First day of winter

Happy Anniversary with WordPress.com! You registered on WordPress.com 12 years ago. Thanks for flying with us. Keep up the good blogging.

A chilly start, and a slight surprise on waking to see June on the calendar. So soon. I knew June was coming, of course, but something about the first day of any month makes you think. In 30 days we’ll be halfway through the year.

Also, a notification from WordPress. 12 years on the platform, to the day. So I signed up on the first day of winter 2012. But in this case, time has worked its puzzling magic slightly differently, because it feels as if I’ve had a website for decades.

The numbers say one thing, the felt experience says something entirely different. We continue to roll along, sometimes merrily.

Happy 1st of June, whatever your season.

Happy Winter! (Just ignore below???) Happy Winter!

Here’s a question, a colleague has a WordPress website & for some reason people cannot sign up to Follow — she’s not a tekkie, but it reallly frustrates me as I love to be informed when new posts come up into my email box — like yours do! I am Subscribed to hers, Follow her, but don’t get notified….. Did you set up your WordPress? Or did someone else? She says she is not tekkie & can’t make any changes….. Know anyone who might know & be able to give a tip for me to give to her??? On how to get her Subscribe to work? http://www.austbuttonhistory.com/

    1. Hello there. If you’re definitely subscribed to your friend’s WP site but you’re not getting notified of new posts, you might have notifications turned off for that site. Check this by going into your reader, and clicking on ‘Manage’ in the right hand column of that page, where it says ‘Subscriptions’. Find Australian Button History in your list of subscriptions, then click the three dots menu at the right of that line, and turn on email notifications. If you’re not subscribed already, you can do that by adding the site – on the same page, ‘Manage subscribed sites’, you’ll see ‘Add a site’ at the top right of the page. Click that, then add the address for your friend’s site. Once they’re in the list of subscribed sites, you’ll be able to adjust notification settings, using the three dot menu as described above.

Hi Barry, you are too clever! Yes, it’s me!!! Thank you so much — will try this. Took a wintry walk & took in the camellias and other winter blossoms — we are so lucky to have lovely flowers all year ’round! Thanks again & here’s to another 12 years of writing & sharing. Deb

        1. It’s always so lovely to hear from you, Deb. I hope those WP suggestions work. I enjoy grappling with tech issues, and have learned a lot from setting up and managing my site. Your wintry ramble sounds divine – a floral delight! Happy walking. Here’s to the next 12 years.
