Timely reminders from Margaret of Elwood Writers and the group itself that the window for submitting work to the American Writers Review (San Fedele Press) 2025 literary contest is shrinking alarmingly quickly. How did we get to the last third of July so quickly! But don’t fret, there’s still time to enter, even if you haven’t started yet. The contest deadline is August 1. And if you want to send a regular submission without putting yourself into the competition arena, you have until September 1 to do that.

The theme for submissions: Buyers’ Remorse

This year’s contest is being judged by Margaret and myself on behalf of Elwood Writers. We’re really looking forward to reading your entries. There are a number of categories to choose from: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and a brand new category, drama/monologues. You’re also invited to submit artwork and photography. Full guidelines and additional information is available on the San Fedele Press submissions page.

To summarise, the contest closes August 1, regular submissions September 1.

Whether you’re in the middle of a piece, or you think you might have a story that could be a suitable fit, or you’re currently staring at a blank page – good luck. It’s well worth joining this event. AWR publishes fine literature, and supports and encourages writers and artists from all over the world.
