I visited the Vision Australia Radio studios with fellow Elwood Writer Margaret McCaffrey on 11 January to record material for a forthcoming edition of Cover to Cover, to be broadcast on Friday 2 February at 8:00PM (AEDT), repeated Sunday 4 February at 1:00PM (AEDT).
The program’s lineup includes three pieces by Elwood Writers published in the latest edition of 20 Artists magazine: Margaret’s ‘A Pocket Handkerchief at the Edge of the World’, Helen McDonald’s poem ‘Behind the Mask’, and my ‘Portrait’. Also included, a rebroadcast of Tim McQueen’s 2020 reading of my short story ‘Gray’ from Broken Rules and Other Stories (Transit Lounge), with a new introduction which gives some background to the story’s provenance.
As usual, it’s possible to listen live online from anywhere in the world via the Vision Australia Radio website – or if you prefer a podcast, a recording of each episode of Cover to Cover becomes available in the week following its broadcast. If you’re in Australia, you’ve also got the old-school option of tuning in your transistor radio and settling down in your favourite armchair, beverage by your side, eyes closed, allowing a variety of dulcet voices to wash over and soothe you – surely there’s no better way to spend a Friday evening or Sunday lunchtime.
Additional information about the program, including websites and listening details, can be found in the Elwood Writers dispatch linked at the top of this post.
Thanks as always to Tim McQueen and the team at Vision Australia Radio for their continued support.
Thanks also to 20 Artists, which is supported by the City of Port Phillip through its Cultural Development Fund.
